weekend recap

This weekend was a quiet weekend. Stephan was stuck in Canmore working overtime until Saturday. Which was ok, because he ended up not working overtime last weekend (which meant he got to spend time with his cousin!). So I didn't mind.

After work on Friday I headed out to the German club by myself for some table tennis. Not very many were there tonight, it was a low turnout. But, it allowed me a lot of playing time and practice. I played really well, and I was really happy with myself :) My serves are getting better, although I still need to learn to put more of a spin on the ball. My returns fast, and I'm getting better at controlling the ball and aiming where I want it to go. We had some really good games and got some good rallies going. What was fun was me and Daniella winning both our match-ups against the boys. They REALLY didn't like that very much.

Saturday was my birthday. And it was a quiet day. Stephan was still in Canmore for work, so I slept in a bit and then lazed around in my pj's. Once I had sufficient time being lazy I showered, did some house work and ran and got some groceries for the weekend. I spent the rest of the time lazing around, and talking to some family and friends who had called to wish me happy birthday. Stephan got home from work around 4:30, and showered and relaxed for a bit before we headed out to dinner. We went out the Toad and Turtle, a place recommended by one of Stephan's friends. One side is a restaurant, and the other a pub. We sat in the pub section. The food was delicious! I had a bowl of their chicken and vegetable soup (sooo yummy!), and some bbq wings. And these wings were HUGE. I couldn't even finish them. There was so much meat on them, and they tasted awesome! Stephan also had some of their wings, and a wild boar burger. I splurged, since it was my birthday and had 2 strawberry bellini's with my dinner (since they were made with Cuban rum, and I LOVE rum!). Best bellini's I've ever had. We rented a movie after dinner and spent the night cuddling in front of the TV together.
Low key, but exactly what I wanted for my birthday :)

Sunday I had church, it was our confirmation service and I had to play for the choir and congregation. There was a little fellowship after church. Once I got home I napped for a few hours. My back had been bugging me for the past week, where I had once strained a disk in my lower back years ago, and during dinner on Friday it had REALLY started to hurt. Sunday morning when I woke up it was brutal. I could barely bend. Stephan had to pick up my shoes for me. It was ok to stand, no pain laying down but sitting was awful. I put a hot water bottle on it during my nap and that seemed to help. After my nap I got dinner ready. I made pork tenderloin in the slow cooker, and did some scalloped potatoes in the oven and green beans amandine. It turned out pretty good, considering I haven't made scalloped potatoes in forever. They were a little runny, but still delicious!
After dinner we did the ordinary "watch-some-movies" and then headed to bed.

How was your weekend?

P.S my back is not 100%, but it is MUCH better today! :)
